About World Cup Comedy Tour

Tour Bio

The World Cup Comedy Tour is multimedia event of comedians, podcasters, and vloggers touring the US promoting the beautiful game through stand up, storytelling, celebrity interviews and all sorts of football related shenanigans.

Featuring Youtube sensations “The Cooligans” (www.soccercooligans.com) and Celebrity podcasters, “Total Soccer Show” (www.totalsoccershow.com). Our inaugural 2018 tour will share footy in a light never seen before. You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, you’ll cry (tears of joy) and just like any great match heading into PK’s, you'll leave wanting more! Hosted by "Inside the 18's" Michael Magid.

Cooligans Bio
The Cooligans are a pair of New York City comedians who love soccer.

Alexis Guerreros and Christian Polanco want to bring laughter to the beautiful game. Soccer is a growing sport in America and our goal (pun intended) is to show that American footy fans are not like any other in the world.

Alexis Bio
Alexis Guerreros likes to talk about, and from the point of view, of someone who grew up in Newark, NJ and with a single mother. Being half Cuban and half Uruguayan also has adjusted his viewpoint, especially regarding what it means to be Hispanic/Latino, being married, and how all of those factors blend into his daily life. Often finding something funny in his shortcomings or tragedies in a way that is universal to all parties. Alexis has also had the good fortune to travel around opening for comics such as Paul Virzi, Jason Lawhead, Sebastian Maniscalco, and many more.

Whether you’ve seen Alexis on stage throughout the US and Europe, co-hosting Illuminati Party at The Stand, hosting STACKED! at The Standing Room in LIC, heard him on his Show Me Your Bits podcast, co-hosting Cooligans Radio, staring in Cooligans videos, on TV, on the radio, or walking around whatever city he is in looking for the best sandwich, you know Alexis is making people laugh.

Christian Bio
A native of Brooklyn New York and the son of immigrants from the Dominican Republic, Christian discovered at an early age that being funny was a way to get people to like you and “not want to beat you up.” This was enough motivation for him to pursue comedy. Christian’s comedic style has been greatly influenced by such comedians as George Carlin, Conan O’Brien and Chris Rock.

While honing his skills in clubs all over New York City, Christian also performs all around the country as well, and has even had the opportunity to perform in Canada and the UK. Recently, he was a part of a comedy bike tour across Ohio where he rode 400 miles across the state and performed 8 shows along the way. He is not a trained cyclist, so his love for comedy is the only thing that carried him along on this very ill-advised endeavor.

Outside of being a stand-up comedian, Christian also does a fair amount of acting, writing and improv. He is currently the head writer for an online talk show called “Metro Section,” where he performs on the show as well. Christian has also hosted a popular podcast called “Offstage w/ Christian Polanco”, where he interviewed other comedians about how they handled dating and relationships.

Christian Polanco is definitely a young rising star in the entertainment industry and is headed for great things. With his natural ability to simply “be funny,” he will be making people around the world laugh for years to come.

Total Soccer Show Bio

The Total Soccer Show is a podcast, co-hosted, recorded and produced by Taylor Rockwell (American, beard, left) and Daryl Grove (English, glasses, right).

We record in our studio in Richmond, Virginia. The show is focused on analyzing soccer and explaining how and why things happen on and off the field. Our major focus is the US Men's National Team, but we also discuss the Champions League, the Premier League, Major League Soccer and plenty more.

We started in 2009 on public radio station WRIR 97.3 FM, where we learned the basics of audio production and how to structure a show. We've since grown to be one of the most-listened-to soccer podcasts in the United States, reaching a sizable national audience.

TSS is our full-time job, but we also do some freelance work on the side. The show remains completely independent, supported by listeners, who contribute financially by joining the Total Soccer Show Scouting Network, as well as by advertisers, many of whom have made long-term commitments to the show.

Five additional co-hosts have contributed along the way, and the show wouldn’t have survived without the talents of Albert Ottati, Josh Stankus, Peyton Siddall, Laura Coutts, and Ryan Heins.

Michael Magid Bio

Born in Caracas Venezuela but raised primarily by a Jewish banker; Michael 's comedy is a a mix of self deprecating stories coaching soccer and biographical accounts of an upbringing in a mixed cultured environment. Never really accepting an identity; and eventually coming to grips that being mixed (and feeling out of place) is ok :) He is a grad of SC Conservatory and is a co-founder of the sketch group “Recycled Babies” . He has been seen at Sketchmelt, Big Pine Fest, The Comedy Central Stages, Seattle Sketchfest , and more. His new stand up album ; "It's Not What It Looks Like" comes out June 15th through Comedy Dynamics, and his new series on Amazon (High Land Parking) has been garnering critical success.
